Book I’m Reading: Acupuncture: A Pain Free Approach by Me!

My bookAcupuncture: A Pain Free Approach (sic) has been finished since November, and after months of challenges, it is finally available. My goal, which I think I accomplished, was to offer a brief introduction to the history of acupuncture, the science behind how it works, what to expect during your appointment, and some personal testimonials from actual patients. Writing began last summer when I was playing around with ChatGPT. While trying to figure out how to edit my other book, I asked ChatGPT for a table of contents for a book introducing people to acupuncture. I narrowed down the original fifteen chapters to the five most important topics. Then realized I had already written more than half of it when I was a contributing editor for Outdoor Competitor magazine. I hope you find it interesting and informative. I ask if you do purchase please leave a nice review on Amazon. It will help me out a lot! Thank you for always being supportive of me.

Success Story: Bulging disc

Bulging discs are a mystery. You may have a small bulge and unrelenting pain, a large bulge with no pain, or a bulge on one side with shooting pain on the other side. Recently I had a patient come in with debilitating pain down the opposite side of the bulge. She was told surgery was not an option and the pain-relieving medication they have given her has not offered any relief. Her pain was so severe I didn't know if I would be able to help. Using every technique I could to try to help relieve some pain, she got up from the table in the same pain as when she laid down. We were discouraged, but I remained hopeful, knowing that sometimes it can take a couple of days to feel improvements. She wrote to me yesterday to say she felt relief the next day, more than any pain medication she'd taken. The most difficult patients for me are those who wait until their pain is so severe it affects their quality of life. If you are in pain, please come in for a session. Don't wait for it to get worse.

Idea I'm Implementing: ChatGPT

ChatGPT has been fun to play around with and helpful at times. As mentioned above, I've used it to help write the table of contents for the book I just published and the one I'm editing now. I've used it to rewrite things as limericks or jokes. For fun, I've asked it to write a short story about a dog and a bunny who go on adventures together. I asked it how to write a press release and for current research on the efficacy of acupuncture. While it can be helpful, it can also be inaccurate. Some of the "current" research it provided was not real, and sometimes, when I ask it to rewrite something, it sounds like it was written by a computer. I suggest playing around with it, but don't always trust it.
