Before and After

My Friday Five. Five things I've been implementing and exploring this week.

Book I'm Reading: Breath by James Nestor

It's fun seeing which health and healing trend I learned about in the 90s will have a resurgence. Of course none of these trends were new in the 90s, but they were new to me and I tried all of them. I tried fasting, intermittent fasting, slow breathing, cleanses, raw, vegan, paleo, making my own kombucha, and more. I was seeking to feel stronger, faster and better. I have the same focus today. Slow breathing and the other techniques Breath mentions have more research behind them than in the 90s. It's a quick read filled with remarkable health transformations. It is compelling enough that I am again slow breathing in 2023 on an elliptical this time instead of a treadmill.

Success Story:

As I continue to love and grow my microneedling aspect of my practice, also called collagen induction therapy, I have seen more exciting transformations. Microneedling is a style of acupuncture that has been proven to be effective at the appearance and texture of scars and wrinkles. A patient with laparoscopic scars on her abdomen came in for two sessions a month apart. After one session the scar was smooth and soft. After one more sessions the scar was barely visible. We will do one to two more sessions to completely remove its appearance. I'm currently working on a c-section scar. I am very excited about the results and will keep you posted.

Scars appearance may not bother everyone, but to those that it does microneedling is definitely an option. You can find more untouched before and after picture from my clinic here. More to come!

Quote I'm meditating on:

Common sense and a sense of humor are the same thing, moving at different speeds. A sense of humor is just common sense, dancing. - William James

Product I'm using: Rocketbook Reusable Notebook

My Dad used this for months before I jumped on the bandwagon. I makes lists, take notes and record patient encounters in my Rocketbook. Using the special pen I can take notes and can erase them later. It really does wipe completely away with a touch of water. Before I would carry tons of little pieces of papers with lists and notes with me everywhere. Now I just have the one notebook. Could I use my phone for my lists? Absolutely, but the screen goes dark constantly and I'm always having to put in my password. This is organized and easier for me.

Music I'm listening to that makes me happy:

I Put a Spell on You - Annie Lennox and Hozier Grammy Performance

If you like, click here and fast forward to the two minute mark when Hozier introduce Annie Lennox. It's one of those performances that sticks with me. It is one of the most passionate performances I've ever seen. Her love for her music and for the song challenge me to be better..

ps I do not have any affiliation with the products mentioned. I like them and want you to know about them.
