Waking Up, Fyre and Water

My Friday Five. Five things I've been implementing and exploring this week.

Health idea I've implemented: Water

Water is my drink of choice. Even as a child I drank water over fizzy drinks. I drink a lot when I'm exercising, but slack off when I'm busy at work and can go an entire workday without even a sip. I have strategically place water around the clinic. I have discovered if I see it, I drink it. It's easy to confuse hunger with thirst if you aren't properly hydrated. If it's not meal time and you're hungry, drink water first and wait 20 minutes to see if you were really only thirsty.

Product I'm discovering: Waking Up and Headspace

I have been meditating off and on for many years, but sometimes I have trouble quieting my mind for those 20-30 minutes. The developer of this app is a neuroscientist. Waking Up and Headspace are 5-20 minute guided meditations that help me clear my mind of the clutter and get back to my chill self.

Quote I'm meditating: “Without courage we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can't be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest.” - Maya Angelou What does it mean to be courageous everyday?

Documentary I'm watching: Fyre on Netflix

Fyre Festival was suppose to be the concert of the century with models and music all culminating during a week long party. I watched most of this documentary with my mouth agape and eyes wide open. I still can't understand how it got so messed up and how they actually let people arrive for the festival. I can appreciate his "It's all going to be okay" steadfast belief, but by the end I was trying to decide if he is a sociopath or a psychopath. What Billy McFarland does while he is out on $300,000 bail still haunts me.

Music I'm listening to: American Girl by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

I started singing American Girl when I was out walking this morning and it's playing right now. I even had to take a dance break while writing.
