Reduce Wrinkles and Scar Appearance
Meet Gail Daugherty, LAc
After enduring six surgeries within three years, I bear nine scars, four of which stretch over six inches each. These marks are not just reminders of my battle with cancer; they are reminders of my resilience. Normally, I embrace scars and wrinkles as badges of a life fully lived. However, these scars were different—they were ugly, angry, and painful.
As a licensed acupuncturist since 2009, I had heard of micro-needling but hadn't delved into mastering the technique until my diagnosis and subsequent scars. Since then, I've discovered a profound affinity for this natural approach to reducing scars and wrinkles. Witnessing firsthand its transformative effects on myself and others has been inspiring. It's not just about physical transformation; it's about reclaiming confidence and self-assurance.
Micro-needling has become another one of my passions for aiding others in their journey towards pain-free living. It has empowered me to feel more confident, and I wholeheartedly believe it can do the same for you.
What is Micro-Needling Acupuncture?
MicroNeedling, also called stem cell induction therapy, is a
process that creates micro-channels in the skin, triggering the body's natural healing response and encouraging the formation of new collagen and elastin fibers. This can result in smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin. Micro-needling is often used to treat various skin concerns, including acne scars, wrinkles, fine lines, enlarged pores, and uneven skin tone. It is typically performed by trained professionals using a specialized micro-needling device.
-
Stimulation of Collagen Production: Red light therapy has been shown to stimulate fibroblast activity in the skin, which are cells responsible for producing collagen, elastin, and other essential proteins. Increased collagen production can help improve skin elasticity and firmness, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.

-
Enhanced Blood Circulation: Red light therapy can
improve blood circulation in the skin, delivering more oxygen and nutrients to the treated area. This improved circulation can promote cell turnover and regeneration, leading to smoother and healthier-looking skin.

-
Reduction of Inflammation: Chronic inflammation in the skin can contribute to the formation of wrinkles and other signs of aging. Red light therapy has anti-inflammatory properties, helping to reduce inflammation and redness, which can minimize the appearance of wrinkles and improve
overall skin tone.

-
Increased Cell Regeneration: Red light therapy can accelerate the skin's natural healing process by promoting cell regeneration and tissue repair. This can lead to a more youthful and rejuvenated complexion, with reduced wrinkles and improved texture.

-
Protection Against UV Damage: Red light therapy has been shown to have photoprotective effects against UV- induced skin damage. Red light therapy can help prevent further wrinkle formation caused by sun exposure by enhancing the skin's natural defense mechanisms and repairing DNA damage. More study needs to be done in this area, but the current research shows promise.

Why Use Swiss Apple Stem Cells instead of Granny Smith?
Apple stem cells increased stem cell activity by 80% and are believed to help reduce wrinkles through their potential ability to stimulate the renewal of skin cells and promote collagen production. The stem cells derived from a rare Swiss apple variety contain unique properties that may support skin rejuvenation and repair. The research on Granny Smith apple stem cells does not show similar promise and is most often what is available online.
When applied topically, apple stem cell extracts are thought to penetrate the skin and interact with human stem cells, encouraging them to regenerate and repair damaged tissues. This process can lead to improved skin elasticity, firmness, and overall texture, which can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
What is included in a Micro-Needling Acupuncture Session?
1. Consultation: Each session typically begins with a consultation to discuss your skincare goals, medical history, skin sensitivity, and progress from your previous session.
2. Cleansing: The skin is thoroughly cleansed to remove any makeup, dirt, or oil, ensuring a clean surface for the procedure.
3. Numbing cream: To minimize discomfort during the procedure, a topical numbing cream may be applied to the treatment area.
4. Preparation of custom topicals: Each time you have an
appointment, a custom formula will be created for you to take home. These formulas typically contain Swiss Apple stem cells, collagen, hyaluronic acid, and other herbs depending on your goals.
5. Micro-needling: Using a specialized micro-needling device,I carefully and systematically create controlled micro-channels on your skin's surface. The depth of penetration may vary depending on your skin and the specific area being addressed. The time for this process varies based on the area being treated and is typically 10-20 minutes.
6. Red light therapy and serum application: After micro-needling is complete, your custom formula will be applied along with red light therapy. (Continue scrolling to learn the benefits of red light therapy.)
7. Aftercare instructions: Your skin will be pink or red for the next few hours and may feel sunburned. Continue applying your custom topical formula frequently, especially over the next 24 hours. Redness and sunburned feeling should dissipate by the next day. Follow aftercare instructions.
8. Follow-up appointments are scheduled no sooner than 4 weeks after your session.
