Food Sensitivities and Nightswimming

My Friday Five. Five things I've been implementing and exploring this week.

Health idea I've implemented: Hair Analysis for Food Sensitivities

This test was life changing for me. I had migraines daily for almost 20 years. The pain level would usually hover around 4/10 on the pain scale and would reach 7/10 at some point almost every day. I had done an ALCAT food sensitivity test and one of those online, send in your saliva tests. I avoided the foods the tests recommended with no change to my migraines. I was skeptical yet optimistic when learning about the hair sample test. It is 94% accurate and tests over 600 foods. Using hair allows for months of analysis where blood and saliva can give only a few days of information. Blood and saliva tests are proven to be much less accurate and without repeatable results. These errors explain why those results never helped my migraines. It turned out that almost my entire diet was causing me to have migraines and store a little extra belly fat. Foods like cauliflower, avocado, garbanzo beans, kale, and cucumber were some of the culprits causing me to have migraines. I believe so much in this diet that I have been negotiating since July with the lab in Italy to be able to offer it to my patients. I am very excited to say we finally came to an agreement and are now offering this test in my clinic. Please feel free to contact me to ask any questions.

Product I'm discovering: Dr Bonner’s Peppermint Toothpaste

I have used essential oils, coconut oil, charcoal and just about every natural toothpaste on the market. I need variety when it come to keeping my pearlies white. I tired of the same flavor and I am always sampling something new. I picked Dr Bonner's up after tiring of cleaning up the black dots left all over my sink and counter from charcoal toothpaste.

Quote I'm meditating: When I won the Oscar, I thought it was a fluke. I thought everybody would find out, and they’d take it back. They’d come to my house, knocking on the door, “Excuse me, we meant to give that to someone else. That was going to Meryl Streep. - Jodie Foster

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels like they are a fraud sometimes.

Documentary I'm watching: Losers on Netflix

I am not a fan of boxing, but the first episode of Losers on Netflix is about a boxer and was fantastic. It is a story about one boxers battle with hating getting hit in the face and wanting to give up boxing. The day he came home to tell his Dad he didn't want to box he was beaten. He did not quit and lost a big bout and was roasted by his home town. He won the next ten matches. You can't help but like this guy and love his story. I was happy to see where he ended up in life.

Music I'm listening to: Nightswimming by R.E.M.

Nightswimming brings up so many memories from my past and they are all good. I went to Fort Worth and listened to the Fort Worth Orchestra play. They played this song with Mike Mills from R.E.M.. I'm listening to it right now as I type and I feel warm and love.
