Book I'm Reading: We're Going to Need More Wine by Gabrielle Union
Thank you to everyone who is sending me recommendations of your favorite memoirs and autobiographies. Keep them coming! I would have never picked up Gabrielle Union's memoir without a recommendation. I didn't know much about her and didn't think it would hold my interest. I could not have imagined how long her words would continue to stick with me! It is a book I wish I could have read when I was a pre-teen and then again when I was in my mid-20s. She talks about her young experiences from the other side, the "I've grown up and get it now " side. She has reconciled her experiences and forgives herself for her mistakes for not knowing better. She is uncomfortably honest and beautifully strong in a way that has inspired me to be better.
Success Story:
Migraines after head trauma
Suffering terrible side effects from a concussion, a patient decided to trust me with her care. She was referred to me by the expert on post-concussion care, Dr. Ayla Wolf, in Minnesota. I was a bit nervous working with her because she was having terrible symptoms and I really wanted to help. Post-concussion symptoms are difficult and it's easy to make them worse if I don't take care to take it slow. The referral from the number one post-concussive specialist in the country made me want to be extra careful. I centered myself, took a few deep breaths, and trusted that I knew what to do. Turns out I was right. Her symptoms reduced from a 9/10 on the pain scale to a 3/10 in just one session.
Quote I'm meditating on:
"I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers." — L.M. Montgomery,
Product I'm using:
Whirley Pop
Being married to a popcorn lover has transformed my snacking habits. I had never gotten a craving for popcorn, rarely ate it, and was not much of a snacker. Enter my wife and popcorn lover. She would walk across the parking lot of her downtown loft to get a jumbo bucket of popcorn from the Angelika and munch on it the rest of the evening. My "problem" started with just a nibble out of her bowl and has grown into a full-fledged addiction. Since I love gadgets, the Whirley Pop recently entered my life. It promised no kernels left unpopped and it delivers. It's also really fun to use and we can reduce the amount of oil in half.
Music I'm listening to that makes me happy:
Used to Be Young by Miley Cyrus
ps I do not have any affiliation with the products mentioned. I like them and want you to know about them.
